Garut Sheep are one of West Java's Genentic Resources and also Indonesian Livestock Genetic Resources which have many advantages. This research aims to examine the population structure and inbreeding rates in Garut Sheep in Kiarapedes District, Purwakarta Regency. This research was carried out from October to December 2023. This research used a survey method with purposive sampling. The samples used in this research were all Garut Sheep in Ciracas Village, Kiarapedes Village, and Parakan Garokgek Village. The variables observed in this study were the number of male parent sheep (Nm), the number of female parent sheep (Nf), the number of young male and female sheep, the number of male and female Cempe sheep, actual population size (Na), effective population size ( Ne), and inbreeding rate (ΔF). The results of the research showed that the total population of Garut Sheep in three villages was 408, with a population structure of Garut Sheep of 60 males (15%), 128 females (31%), 44 young males (6%), females. 23 young (11%), 82 male Cempe (20%), 71 female Cempe (17%). The actual population size (Na) of Garut Sheep is 188 individuals. The effective population size (Ne) of Garut Sheep is 163 individuals. The inbreeding rate of Garut sheep in Kiarapedes District is 0.30%. The development of Garut Sheep in Kiarapedes District is still in safe status based on the results of a study of population structure and inbreeding rate.
