This planning and design for Kertapati market is the result of problem solving from the previous design’s issues. This market has economic and social functions that make it provides some facilities for not only traders and market managers, but also public use. This market is designed based on design approach from the previous market’s problems, that produce a design with space optimization which provide visibility development and interactive design in the terms of zoning, utilities, circulation, and accessibility. This market shows that a building can be beneficial not only for its users, but also for public. The applied concept based on design approach is a solid-void configuration of subtractive form. This concept can be applied not only for design layout but also for various architectural aspects.
