The increasing demand for galangal plants to be used as food and medicine has created a great opportunity for farming actors to develop galangal farming. The objectives of this research were: (1) Calculating family income in Merah Mata Village, Banyuasin 1 District, Banyuasin Regency. (2) Calculate how much galangal farming income contributes to family income in Merah Mata Village, Banyuasin 1 District, Banyuasin Regency. (3) Analyzing strategies for developing galangal farming in Merah Mata Village, Banyuasin 1 District, Banyuasin Regency. The method used in the research is a survey method. The sampling method uses a purposive sampling method (intentionally). The data collected in this research consists of primary data and secondary data. The results of this research show that the family income of galangal farmers in Merah Mata Village, Banyuasin 1 District, Banyuasin Regency comes from three sources, namely galangal farming, other farming which consists of vegetable and rice farming and non-farming activities. The average annual income from galangal farming is Rp26.369.143, the average annual income from vegetable farming is Rp3.759.767, the average annual income from rice farming is Rp18.194.533 and the average annual non-farming income is Rp39.407.692. The average total income of farming families is Rp66.356.813. The contribution of galangal farming income to total family income is 39,37% or can be categorized as moderate. Based on the results of the SWOT analysis, it is in quadrant 1 or SO strategy. Keywords: Contribution, development strategy, family income, galangal farming, other farms
