The development both small and medium industries are increased along with the need for fuel which is also increasing, while fossil energy is running out. Biobriquettes are fuels consisting of a mixture of solids consisting of a mixture of coalite and oil palm shells (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) with a low sulfur value, thereby reducing the pollutants produced. Coalite is a carbonized coal that is a smokeless fuel or fuel that emits little or no smoke when ignited. Oil palm shells are biomass that can increase the level of carbon tethered to briquettes, so that the heating value produced is higher. This study aims to determine the quality of biobriquettes based on the best composition, type of adhesive and comparison of soak activation and mixed activation. There are biobriquette testing parameters to determine the quality of biobriquettes in accordance with SNI 4931: 2010, including moisture content, ash content, fly substance content, tethered carbon content, sulfur value, and calorific value. Based on the results of the study, biobriquettes with a composition of 60% oil palm shells, 30% coalite, 7% clay, 3% arpus and using mixed activation techniques produced a moisture content of 5.7%, ash content of 11.6%, fly substance content of 30.7%, fixed carbon of 52%, sulfur value of 0.17%, and calorific value of 5,952 cal/g.
