KAJI EKSPERIMENTAL PENGARUH TEBAL PAD DAN TEMPERATUR AIR PENDINGIN TERHADAP EFEK PENDINGINAN SISTEM PENDINGIN EVAPORATIF
The process of evaporative cooling occurs when moisture is added to air which has a relative humidity below 100 %. The greater the temperature difference between the dry bulb and wet bulb temperature of the air , the greater the drop in temperature that can be achieved. The use of an electric fan to blow air on the surface of wet media ( pad ) is a development of the concept of evaporative cooler. This study was conducted to determine the decrease in air dry bulb temperature, humidity ratio ,relative humidity, and a loss in the effectiveness of the cooling air flow. Variables measured during the test is the wet-bulb air temperature and dry bulb air temperature at the input and output, cooling water temperature, and air velocity. Based on the results of the testing and analysis of data that have been done found that an evaporative cooler when viewed from a thick pad and temperature of the cooling water used to produce different effectiveness. Test results on evaporative cooling fan shows that the value of the average cooling effectiveness on the pad 4 cm > 2 cm > 1 cm. Effectiveness values on the pad 4 cm that uses water + ice respectively are 29.67%, 42.21% and 56.26% while effectiveness values on the pad 4 cm that only uses water respectively are 23.90%, 33.94%, and 42.64%.
