PERENCANAAN DAN PERANCANGAN SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS BERTARAF INTERNASIONAL DI KOTA PALEMBANG DENGAN PENDEKATAN BIOKLIMATIK
The educational infrastructure in Palembang continues to advance, particularly with the growing number of international schools established to meet the demands of globalization and the need for high-quality education. The emergence of internationally accredited schools also supports Point 30th of the Palembang City Regional Development Plan (2024–2026), which targets a consistent annual increase in the number of "smart and integrity-based" schools. Both local and central governments play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of education. The rising demand for international schools brings forth challenges, especially in providing adequate facilities that ensure a comfortable learning environment. However, the recent regulation issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Permendikbudristek) emphasizes the importance of health-oriented school buildings. Excessive reliance on air conditioning to maintain thermal comfort has raised concerns about energy inefficiency. In response, the bioclimatic design approach becomes increasingly relevant. This approach aligns with the local tropical climate of Palembang, promoting the use of natural ventilation and optimal daylighting. By adopting bioclimatic principles, schools in Palembang can not only enhance their competitiveness but also foster a healthy and energy-efficient learning environment that supports sustainable educational development.
