ANALISIS PENINGKATAN KADAR SILIKA (SiO2) PADA BOTTOM ASH BATUBARA MENGGUNAKAN ASAM SULFAT DI PLTU PT. BUKIT ASAM TBK., TANJUNG ENIM SUMATERA SELATAN
Coal burning in the power generation industry produces solid waste called bottom ash. In one day bottom ash waste released by the Electric Steam Power Plant at PT. Bukit Asam, Tbk., is approximately as much as 250 tons. This ammount of coal bottom ash waste will cause various problems, and will require waste processing. Because bottom ash is composed of the chemical component silica (SiO2), a silica extraction process can be carried out as an example of waste processing. This research aims to analyze the ability of sulfuric acid to bind and extract silica from bottom ash using the X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) method. Extraction of silica with sulfuric acid using NaOH solvent concentration parameters with variations of 3M; 6M and 8M. The bottom ash control sample had a silica content of 64.141%, the 3M, 6M and 8M bottom ash samples experienced an increase in silica concentration where the respective percentages were 75.512%, 78.512% and 79.436%. From the data that was gathered, it can be concluded that sulfuric acid is a strong acid and it is able to bind silica from bottom ash efficiently.
