SINTESIS KOMPOSIT Fe3O4/CuO DENGAN EKSTRAK DAUN KERSEN (Mutingia calabura L.) UNTUK DEGRADASI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED
Fe3O4/CuO composite has been synthesized with the addition of kersen leaf extract as a capping agent using the green synthesis method used for degradation of congo red dye. The synthesized Fe3O4/CuO was characterized using XRD, SEM-EDS, VSM and UV-Vis DRS. Characterization results using XRD obtained the highest peak of Fe3O4/CuO at angle 2θ = 35.56° with a crystal size of 42.47 nm. SEM-EDS characterization results showed heterogeneous Fe3O4/CuO morphology with constituent elements in the form of O (26.06%), Fe (34.55%) and Cu (39.40%). VSM results from the hysteresis curve show a saturation magnetization value of 66.67 emu/g which indicates that this composite is superparamagnetic. The band gap value of UV-Vis DRS characterization results is 1.96 eV. pHpzc of Fe3O4/CuO composite is at pH 6.64. The best condition of congo red concentration reduction by Fe3O4/CuO is at pH 5, concentration of 20 ppm, and irradiation time for 100 minutes with the effectiveness of concentration reduction of 96.61%. The rate constant of congo red dye using Fe3O4/CuO was found of 0.0125 menit-1 with a coefficient determination (R2) of 0.9443. Keywords: Fe3O4/CuO composite, kersen leaf, photodegradation, congo red, rate constant
