Government spending and fiscal independence are two things that cannot be separated in efforts to improve the quality of human life in the era of regional autonomy. This study aims to analyze the effect of government spending and fiscal independence on the human development index in districts/cities in Lampung Province. The research data comes from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Indonesia and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) with a ten-year period from 2014-2023. The analysis technique used is panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results of this study indicate that government spending and fiscal independence have a significant positive effect on the Human Development Index in districts/cities in Lampung Province. This finding highlights the importance of the government in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of spending and strengthening regional fiscal independence by increasing Regional Original Revenue.
