ANALISIS PENGARUH VARIASI KECEPATAN PUTARAN SCREW DALAM PROSES EKSTRUSI FILAMEN POLYPROPYLENE
This study aims to analyze the effect of screw rotation speed variation on the extrusion results of polypropylene (PP)-based filament. The extrusion process is one of the primary methods in the production of thermoplastic filaments, where process parameters such as screw speed play a crucial role in determining product quality. In this research, screw speeds of 4 RPM, 5 RPM, and 6 RPM were used, along with two extrusion temperatures: 190°C and 200°C. The observed parameters included the diameter of the extruded filament and dimensional stability throughout the process. The results showed that increasing the screw rotation speed significantly affected the filament diameter, with higher speeds tending to produce thicker filaments. Conversely, lower speeds resulted in thinner filament diameters. When examining the filament diameter produced at heating temperatures of 190°C and 200°C, it was found that higher temperatures tended to yield thinner filaments. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a direct relationship between screw speed and filament diameter, which needs to be optimized to produce high-quality polypropylene filament.
