DETERMINAN KELUHAN GANGGUAN KULIT PADA PETANI YANG TERPAJAN PESTISIDA DI KECAMATAN DEMPO UTARA KOTA PAGAR ALAM
Farmers exposed to pesticides in agricultural activities may be at risk of experiencing health issues, one of which is skin disorder complaints. This study aims to analyze the determinants of skin disorder complaints among farmers exposed to pesticides in Dempo Utara District, Pagar Alam City. This analytical study employs a cross-sectional design with a sample of 110 pesticide-using farmers selected through simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted through interviews using a questionnaire. The data were analyzed univariately, bivariate using the chi-square test, and multivariate using multiple logistic regression with a predictive model. The chi-square test results indicate that three variables have a significant relationship with skin disorder complaints: the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) (p=0.001), the number of pesticide types used (p=0.023), and personal hygiene (p=0.029). Meanwhile, the variables of age (p=0.135), gender (p=0.203), knowledge level (p=0.895), work duration (p=0.997), spraying duration (p=0.578), and spraying frequency (p=0.188) do not have a significant relationship with skin disorder complaints among farmers exposed to pesticides. The multivariate analysis results show that the most dominant factor influencing skin disorder complaints is the use of PPE, with PR = 9.379 (95% CI: 3.629 – 24.244). It is concluded that the dominant factor of PPE use primarily causes skin disorder complaints. Therefore, farmers should wear complete PPE and clean themselves after pesticide exposure.
