PERENCANAAN DAN PERANCANGAN MUSEUM GEMPA SEBAGAI SARANA EDUKASI, REKREASI, DAN EVAKUASI DI KOTA PADANG, SUMATERA BARAT
West Sumatra is an area prone to natural disasters, particularly earthquakes and tsunamis. The lack of public awareness and knowledge regarding disaster mitigation, as well as the limited availability of educational and evacuation facilities, highlights the urgency of establishing an Earthquake Museum in Padang City, West Sumatra. This museum adopts a disaster-responsive architectural approach, considering its location in a high-risk area. In addition to showcasing collections, the museum offers recreational facilities such as a VR room, mini theater, and earthquake and tsunami simulation rooms. It also includes a ramp and rooftop garden functioning as a Temporary Evacuation Site (TES) that can be utilized by the surrounding community in the event of a disaster. Thus, the museum serves not only as an exhibition space but also as a comprehensive facility for education, recreation, and evacuation, aiming to improve public understanding and preparedness for natural disasters and their mitigation efforts.
