The urban farming program presented in this research is an effort to invite city residents to be actively involved in protecting the environment, food security and social relations in the community. With a focus on the concepts of sustainability and independence, this program aims to not only create environmental sustainability, but also improve the welfare of urban communities. The purposes of this search were (1) Describing the implementation of community empowerment through the urban farming program in Kampung Sayur Cempako 26 Ilir, Palembang City, (2) Describing the strategies of community groups in developing an urban farming program in Kampung Sayur Cempako 26 Ilir, Palembang City, (3) Analyzing what are the supporting and inhibiting factors in community empowerment through the urban farming program in Kampung Sayur Cempako 26 Ilir, Palembang City. Data collection was carried out in October 2023. This research method was a descriptive method with a qualitative approach and a case study method. The sampling method used was the purposive sampling method. The results of this study show that community empowerment through the urban farming program has been implemented optimally and has been running independently with collaboration with supporting partners in providing facilities and financial assistance. The strategies in this research area was also appropriate for development through Human Resources, Group Institutions, Cultivating Public (Private) Capital, Productive Business Development, and Providing Appropriate Information. The results of the analysis of supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing this urban farming program were supporting factors including government policy, opportunities, resources, abilities, dispositions, bureaucratic structures in community groups. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include land conditions and infrastructure.
