PEMBUATAN KARBON TERAKTIVASI DARI CANGKANG LARVA MAGGOT (CLM) SEBAGAI ADSORBEN ZAT WARNA METHYLEN BLUE DAN CONGO RED
This study aims to characterize and test the ability of maggot larvae shell (CLM) activated carbon as an adsorbent for the absorption of methylen blue (MB) and congo red (CR). CLM activated carbon was made through carbonization process at 300°C, 400°C, 500°C, 600°C, 700°C and 800°C. Characterization of CLM was carried out using FTIR, XRD, BET, and SEM-EDX methods. The results showed that CLM has a regular and stable crystal structure, with a large enough surface area. Adsorption testing of MB and CR showed that CLM has a high adsorption ability with an adsorption efficiency of 25% for MB and 60% for CR, which can be further improved through chemical activation with KOH. The results of this study indicate that CLM can be used as an alternative adsorbent material that is environmentally friendly and effective for removing pollutants from wastewater.
