PENGARUH KONSENTRASI NATRIUM KARBONAT (Na2CO3) PADA PEMBUATAN KARBON AKTIF DARI AMPAS TEBU
This study aims to determine the effect of concentration of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) on the quality of activated carbon produced from sugarcane bagasse. The study utilized a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with treatment variations of sodium carbonate concentrations consisting of five levels: A1 = Na2CO3 4,5%, A2 = Na2CO3 5,0%, A3 = Na2CO3 5,5%, A4 = Na2CO3 6,0%, and A5 = Na2CO3 6,5%. Each treatment was replicated three times. The parameters observed in this study included moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content, and iodine adsorption capacity of the activated carbon derived from sugarcane bagasse. The best treatment for activated carbon from sugarcane bagasse was A5 (Na2CO3 6,5%), which exhibited a moisture content of 7,54%, ash content of 13,67%, volatile matter content of 22,37%, fixed carbon content of 118,59%, and iodine adsorption capacitiy of 1472,89 mg/g.
