EVALUASI IMPLEMENTASI PESTISIDA OLEH PETANI TANAMAN PANGAN PADI (Oryza sativa L.) DAN JAGUNG MANIS (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) SERTA PENGARUHNYA TERHADAP BIODIVERSITAS
The main commodities in Indonesia are food crops, mainly peas (Oryza sativa L.) and corn. (Zea mays saccharata Sturt). Pests and plant diseases are considered a major problem in Indonesia's agricultural production system, causing loss of yields of up to 30% per year. The use of synthetic pesticides is thought to be more effective, simpler, and provides huge economic benefits. The research was conducted to evaluate the implementation of pesticides by farmers of peanuts (Oryza sativa L.) and sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) as well as their impact on biodiversity. The study was conducted in May until December 2023. The study was conducted by interviewing 30 peanut and sweet maize farmers who used synthetic pesticides. The method used is purposive sampling, i.e. taking samples by determining the specific assessment conditions of the object with a minimum area of 300m2. The pest diversity index was obtained at 1.75 in the category that the species diversity indeks is moderate 1< H’ < 3. The pest darkness index of 0.62 indicates that, the pest dominance index is unequal while the pest predominance index at 0.45 belongs to a low ketegori with a value of less than 1. The natural enemy diversity Index obtains a species biodiversity index of 1.66 in the medium category. Based on the results of 30 respondents food crops pesticide score was obtained with 225.65 high category. The application of pesticides by farmers prefers using calculations rather than the labelling and patterns of use of the pesticide that have been suggested. The relationship between the use score and the intensity and percentage of attacks of pests and diseases is correlated positively. The diversity of pests and natural enemies is affected by the use of pesticides on the plant soil where the continuous use of the pesticide in violation of the rules of use can cause the development of immunity resistance of the insect pests to the pests used even result in the killing of non-target pests such as the natural enemy of the pest and neutral insects on the soil of food crops of peas and sweet corn.
