The younger generation has a moral responsibility to continue the task of maintaining Indonesia's food security. Judging from current developments, very few young people are interested in becoming farmers, which could be dangerous for Indonesia's food security. However, judging from previous generations, very few young people are interested in becoming farmers. The objectives of this research are: (1) Compare the value of farmers' income and the applicable UMR value and see the size of the difference. (2) Measuring the interest of the younger generation to become farmers. (3) Analyze the relationship between differences in farmer income values and the current minimum wage value and the interest of the younger generation in becoming farmers. The method used in this research is a survey method or direct interview, the data processing method used is chi square with contingency tables. The results obtained are; (1) there is a difference in the value of farmers' income to the regional minimum wage in Palembang City (2) the interest of the younger generation in becoming farmers is 33% of 30 children of farmers as an example, (3) there is a significant relationship between the difference in the value of farmers' income to the regional minimum wage. applies in Palembang City and the number of family members with an interest in the younger generation to become farmers.
