DAMPAK PERBEDAAN INTENSITAS NAUNGAN TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN KUALITAS HASIL SELADA RED ROMAINE (LACTUCA SATIVA.L)
Red romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a leaf vegetable with high economic value and contains benefits that are good for consumption. Efforts to increase the productivity of romaine lettuce include knowing adequate growing conditions. Light intensity also affects the growth of vegetables including romaine lettuce. With that, we hope for good and maximum results. This research aims to identify the best shade intensity for the growth results of red romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). This study was conducted in Jakabaring District (104o46’4” E; 3o01’35” S), Palembang, South Sumatra, from July to September 2023. The research was carried out using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) which consisted of one factor, namely shade intensity with 4 densities, namely: N0 = No Shade, N45 = 45% shade intensity, N55 = 55% shade intensity, N80 = 80% shade intensity. Each treatment consisted of 3 replications and in each replication there were 3 main plants and 2 reserve plants, so the number of plants observed were 60 plants. The data obtained were analyzed using the variance test and 5% LSD test. Several parameters observed were leaf height, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves, canopy diameter, leaf thickness, soil moisture, and organoleptic tests. The research results showed that the 0% shade intensity (N0) treatment had the highest value for plant growth and yield, namely in the parameters of leaf width, number of leaves, leaf thickness, and organoleptic tests. In the organoleptic test parameters, the taste of red romaine lettuce tends to have a better taste at 0% shade (N0).
