Fragile feed and expensive conventional feed prices are challenges in the field of aquaculture. This study aims to determine the best feed binder and the best type of feed between independent feed and conventional feed Hi Pro Vite as a support for the growth rate of white snapper (Lates calcarifer) fry. The experimental design used was a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) in 2 tests. The binder test uses 5 treatments and 3 replicates, namely (a). CMC (Carboxy Methyl Cellulose) 5% (control), (b). Gelidium sp. 5%, (c). Gelidium sp. 10%, (d). Sargassum sp. 5%, and (e). Sargassum sp. 10%. The best feed test to support the growth rate and survival of white snapper used 2 treatments and 3 replicates, namely (a) Hi Pro Vite conventional feed and (b). Gelidium sp. 10% independent feed. The results of the binder test showed that the best binder was Gelidium sp. with a breaking speed of 69.57 minutes; a sinking speed of 0.096 cm/min; a feed hardness of 5,714 grams; a 60-minute feed stability of 84.73%; and a moisture content of 8.05%. The results of the best feed test study showed that Gelidium 10% independent feed was the best feed with a relative growth rate of 60.14% and a weight of 80.73%; a specific growth rate of 1.68% and a weight of 2.12%; a feed conversion ratio of 1.19; and a survival rate of 100%. Keywords : white snapper fry, conventional feed, Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC), Gelidium sp., Sargassum sp.
