PENDUGAAN PENAMBATAN KARBON PADA TANAMAN KARET UMUR 10 DAN 25 TAHUN DI PT WAIMUSI AGROINDAH KABUPATEN OGAN KOMERING ILIR
Global warming occurs due to the increase in carbon dioxide by human activities, as well as massive deforestation. The way to overcome this problem is by reforesting the forest so that carbon reserves are maintained. Rubber is one of the woody plants included in plantation crops that can absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) through the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process of making food by plants, where during this process, plants absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, then stored in the plant body in the form of biomass or glucose which is closely related to carbon (C), and plants produce oxygen (O2). Therefore, this study aims to determine the magnitude of tethering and the ability of rubber plants to carbon produced by biomass from rubber stands of different ages. The results showed that the larger the diameter of the tree trunk, the greater the biomass and carbon produced by the plant, and the greater the age of the plant stand, the greater the biomass and carbon sequestration potential of the plant. The 25 year old rubber plants in this study site produced an average biomass value of 53,99 tons ha-1 and carbon potential of 25,38 tons ha-1, while the 10 year old rubber plants in this study site, produced an average biomass value of 44,11 tons ha-1, and stored carbon potential of 20,73 tons ha-1. Keywords: Biomass, carbon, rubber plants
