UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIDEPRESAN EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN SUNGKAI (PERONEMA CANESCENS JACK) TERHADAP MENCIT (MUS MUSCULUS)
The leaves of Sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) contain secondary metabolites, flavonoids, which have the potential as antidepressant activity. This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract of Sungkai leaves on antidepressant activity and its optimal dose. In this study, six groups were divided: the normal group (NaCMC 0,5% without acute stress induction), the negative group (NaCMC 0,5% with acute stress induction), the positive group (fluoxetine 20 mg/kg body weight), and the treatment groups I, II, and III (ethanol extract of Sungkai leaves with doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg body weight, respectively). Antidepressant testing for each group was conducted for 39 days. The parameters of traction test, tail suspension test, forced swimming test, and locomotor activity were measured on day 1, 7, and 14, while body weight was measured on days 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20, and sucrose consumption was measured. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Sungkai leaves had antidepressant activity in mice induced with acute stress, compared to the negative control (p
