Optimal soil moisture is crucial for the growth and development of plants. Excess water in the soil can lead to root rot, while water deficiency can cause dehydration and hinder flowering. One plant that requires optimal soil moisture is the Cymbidium orchid. According to the research center for ornamental plants, orchids thrive when the soil moisture ranges from 60% to 80%. Therefore, this study aims to design a soil moisture automation system for Cymbidium orchids using the capacitive soil moisture sensor SKU:SEN0193 to detect soil moisture, NodeMCU ESP32 as an IoT-based microcontroller, a mini DC 12-volt water pump as a plant watering actuator, and the Blynk application for remote monitoring of soil moisture. The hardware and software design methods were successfully implemented according to the programmed specifications. Performance testing of the system demonstrated that the water pump operates when the soil moisture is below 60% and stops when the soil moisture exceeds 80%. The study successfully applied the capacitive soil moisture sensor SKU:SEN0193 in designing the soil moisture automation system and obtained satisfactory results in the sensor's validation, with an average accuracy of 98.76%, precision of 99.22%, and an error rate of 0.45%. The Blynk application effectively displays real-time output values
