South Sumatra is a region whose population has increased significantly in the last three years. The increase in population has not been accompanied by an increase in health services, causing the number of health workers to be unbalanced. To see the even distribution of the number of each group of health workers, can use Hierarchical Cluster analysis. This research will apply Hierarchical Cluster analysis to the number of health workers in South Sumatra. The Hierarchical Cluster methods used are Single Linkage, Complete Linkage, Average Linkage, and Ward's. Clustering of the number of health workers was carried out using a 2 Cluster and 3 Cluster approach. The best Cluster method based on the Silhouette is located in 2 Clusters, while the best method based on the standard deviation ratio value is located in 3 Clusters in the Average Linkage method. However, the difference between the 2 clusters and the best method is very small at 0.014. This shows that all methods are good but the best method is Average Linkage in 3 Clusters. From the results of implementing the Hierarchical Cluster, it was obtained that 2 Clusters had the same characteristics, where the 1st Cluster had a low number of general practitioners and pharmaceutical staff, and the 2nd Cluster had a high number of general practitioners and pharmaceutical staff. From the results of 3 Clusters, the characteristics of Cluster 1 were that the number of general practitioners, midwives and pharmaceutical staff was quite high. In cluster 2, the number of general practitioners, midwives and pharmaceutical staff is low. Cluster 3 has a high number of general practitioners, midwives and pharmaceutical staff. Based on the results of the 2 Cluster and 3 Cluster groupings, the number of health workers that is still low are dentists and environmental health workers. The areas that need to be developed because the number of health workers is still low are Pagar Alam City, Empat Lawang Regency, Pali Regency and South OKU Regency.
