ABSTRACT This research aims to determine the description of teachers' teaching skills and understand the impact of learning approaches on improving the teaching skills of PJOK teachers. Lesson study is a collaborative method where teachers work together to design, observe and reflect on the PJOK learning process. This research uses the action research method (Action Research), a research method that plays a role in increasing work effectiveness and efficiency, namely action research. This research aims to determine the description of teachers' teaching skills before and after the lesson study approach and to understand the impact of the lesson study approach on improving the teaching skills of PJOK teachers. The subjects in this research were PJOK teachers who taught at the State Elementary School Education Unit Level in Plaju District, totaling 10 people. Based on the results of this research, there is a difference between the results of the PJOK teacher competency test and the initial data, the average score is 23.5, while the average score for the final data is 35.4. The results of the Lesson Study approach were successfully applied in learning, thereby increasing the contribution of students more dominantly than before. Through the Lesson Study approach, the teaching competence of PJOK teachers in elementary schools throughout Plaju District is increasing so that learning is more effective and increases student enthusiasm. The implications of this research show that lesson study is the right approach to improve the teaching skills of PJOK teachers and make learning more innovative, efficient and effective for students.
