PREPARASI DAN KARAKTERISASI GEL PEMBAWA DISPERSI PADAT ERITROMISIN-PEG 6000 DENGAN VARIASI KONSENTRASI HPMC
Erythromycin has the properties of a macrolide derivative antibiotic, but erythromycin has the disadvantage that it is not soluble in water. One way to increase the solubility of erythromycin is through a solid dispersion system. The solid dispersion that has been made is then formulated into a gel preparation with the aim of inserting erythromycin through the skin pores. The gel base used is HPMC with variations in concentration, namely 1.5; 2; 2.5%. The aim of this research is to understand the characteristics of erythromycin solid dispersions, determine the amount of HPMC needed to obtain the best erythromycin solid dispersion gel carrier formula, and determine the characteristics of erythromycin solid dispersion gel carriers. The method for making solid dispersions uses the co-grinding method. The results showed that the addition of HPMC increased the gel viscosity and reduced the spreadability. The formula with an HPMC concentration of 2.5% has the highest viscosity and lowest spreadability. All formulas meet pH requirements for skin application. The hedonic test showed that the panelists liked the three formulas. All three formulas showed syneresis below 10%. It was concluded that the characterization of the erythromycin solid dispersion used was FTIR analysis, the amount of HPMC required to obtain the best gel formula was 2%, and the characterization of the gel used was organoleptic test, spreadability test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, hedonic test (liking test) and gel syneresis test.
