UJI DAYA ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK DAN FRAKSI-FRAKSI PADA TANAMAN BOROCO (Celosia argentea L.) DENGAN METODE DPPH
Boroco plant (Celosia argentea L.) is a plant that has antioxidant properties, which contains phytochemical components such as phenols, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids and tannins that have antioxidant properties. This study aims to measure the antioxidant power and total phenolic content in extracts and fractions from boroco stems, leaves and seeds and to determine the correlation between antioxidant power and total phenolic content. The total phenolic content test in this study was conducted using the Folin-Ciocalteu method and the antioxidant power test was conducted using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryhydrazil) method. The results of the total phenolic content test showed that the largest results were successively shown in the ethyl acetate fraction of seeds, ethyl acetate fraction of stems, ethyl acetate fraction of leaves, ethanol fraction of stems, ethanol extract of seeds, n-Hexan fraction of seeds, ethanol fraction of seeds, ethanol fraction of leaves, ethanol extract of stems, ethanol extract of leaves, n-Hexan fraction of stems, total phenolic content with the highest value of 112, 376 ± 3.306 mgGAE/g contained in the ethyl acetate fraction of seeds. The best antioxidant power test results are in the ethyl acetate fraction of seeds with an IC50 value of 121, 177 ppm showing antioxidant power in the medium category. The results obtained are the antioxidant power of the three extract samples and fractions of boroco stems, leaves and seeds and with the best results included in the moderate category obtained in the ethyl acetate fraction in the seeds and show a very strong correlation which means the greater the total phenolic content, the stronger the antioxidant power.
