UJI DAYA ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK DAN FRAKSI-FRAKSI PADA TANAMAN BANDOTAN (Ageratum conyzoides L.) DENGAN METODE DPPH
The Bandotan plant (Ageratum conyzoides L.) is classified as a seasonal herb weed which contains secondary metabolites including terpenes, sterols, flavonoids, alkaloids, benzofuran, chromen, chromone, coumarin, essential oils and tannins so that it has antioxidant activity. This study aims to measure the total phenolic content and antioxidant power of ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and ethanol fraction of bandotan stems, leaves and flowers as well as the correlation between antioxidant power and total phenolic content. Total phenolic content was measured using the Folin-ciocalteu method and antioxidant power was tested using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil) method. The results obtained for the highest total phenolic content were respectively shown in the leaf ethyl acetate fraction, flower ethyl acetate fraction, leaf ethanol fraction, flower ethanol fraction, stem ethanol extract, stem ethanol fraction, flower ethanol extract, stem ethanol extract, stem ethyl acetate fraction stem, stem n-hexane fraction, flower n-hexane fraction, leaf n-hexane fraction with the highest KTFe value of 201,667 ± 2,182 mgGAE/g. The results of research on the greatest antioxidant power produced an IC50 value of 45,155 ppm shown in the ethyl acetate fraction of bandotan leaves with very strong antioxidant power. The results showed that there was total phenolic content and antioxidant power in samples of ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and ethanol fraction of stems, leaves and flowers of bandotan plants (Ageratum conyzoides L.) and showed a correlation that was greater the total phenolic content, the stronger the antioxidant power.
