DETERMINAN PERILAKU PENANGANAN PESTISIDA PADA PETANI DI KECAMATAN DEMPO UTARA KOTA PAGAR ALAM
The use of pesticides often does not align with safe pesticide handling behavior and guidelines, which increases the potential exposure to pesticides for farmers and can lead to various health problems. This study aimed to identify the determinants of pesticide handling behavior among farmers in Dempo Utara District, Pagar Alam City. This research used an observational analytic research method with a cross-sectional study design, involving 116 samples selected by simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted through interviews using questionnaires and observations using checklists. Data analysis included univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test, and multivariate analysis using a multiple logistic regression test with a prediction model. The results of this study shows that the variables of knowledge (p-value = 0.013) and agricultural officer support (p-value = 0.016) have a significant relationship with pesticide handling behavior among farmers. The results of this study indicate that knowledge (PR=0.013) and agricultural extension worker support (p-value=0.016) are significantly associated with pesticide handling behavior among farmers. Age (p-value=1.000), gender (p-value=0.714), income (p-value=0.865), years of experience (p-value=0.539), attitude (p-value=0.895), and availability of PPE (p-value=0.203) are not significantly associated with pesticide handling behavior among farmers. The logistic regression results indicate that agricultural extension support is the most dominant factor in determining pesticide handling behavior among farmers (p-value 0.012; PR 2.735; CI 1.248-5.991). This research concludes that agricultural extension support is the most decisive factor in pesticide handling behavior among farmers
