Cricket pest attacks can cause plants to become hollow so that it can cause a decrease in plant quality and productivity and even kill plants. One of the efforts to overcome this problem with bioinsecticides of African leaf extract (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) which contains toxic compounds to cricket. The purpose of this study was to obtain secondary metabolite compounds of African leaf extract, concentrations that affect the behavior, morphology, and mortality of cricket, as well as the LC50 value of African leaf extract. The research was conducted at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory and Animal Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, October to December 2023. Using a complete randomized design with testing the concentration of African leaf extract 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% as well as positive control (matarin), and negative control (distilled water). Observation parameters consisted of changes in behavior, morphology, and mortality of crickets. Data analysis using Anova and Duncan's further test, linear regression to obtain the LC50 value. Based on the results showed that African leaf extract has an effect on changes in behavior, morphology, and mortality with a success rate of 32% at 1 hour and 78% at 24 hours. The LC50 value obtained was 1.2068% at 24 hours with a toxic category. African leaf extract contains secondary metabolite compounds that are toxic to crickets such as terpenoids, steroids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins and the most influential concentration is at a concentration of 4%.
