HUBUNGAN KARAKTERISTIK INDIVIDU DAN PERSEPSI HYGIENE SANITASI MAKANAN TERHADAP KEPUTUSAN PEMBELIAN MAKANAN DI AREA KAMBANG IWAK KOTA PALEMBANG
Food purchasing decisions are an important aspect that influences consumer health. Choosing food that does not pay attention to hygiene and sanitation aspects can increase the risk of disease due to bacterial contamination or dangerous substances. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between individual characteristics and perceptions of food sanitation hygiene on food purchasing decisions in the Kambang Iwak area, Palembang City. This research is an analytical research using a cross sectional design with a sample of 95 consumers selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection method was carried out by interviews using questionnaires. Data analysis is univariate and bivariate analysis based on the Spearman rank correlation test using statistical software programs. Based on the research results, there is a significant relationship between food quality (p=0.025), food price (p=0.001) and perception of food hygiene and sanitation (p=0.000) on food purchasing decisions, and there is no significant relationship between age (p=0.781 ) with food purchasing decisions. The conclusion in this research is that there is a significant relationship (p=0.000) with very strong correlation strength (ρ=-0.780) between the perception of food hygiene and sanitation variables and food purchasing decisions among consumers in the Kambang Iwak area, Palembang City. This research suggests that consumers should always pay attention to food hygiene and sanitation aspects before buying food.
