Pathological vaginal discharge is a condition in which the fluid discharged from the vagina undergoes changes in colour, odour, texture, or volume. Approximately 75% of women worldwide have experienced vaginal discharge at least once in their lifetime. Previous research suggests that knowledge, attitude, personal hygiene behaviour, stress, and physical activity may be risk factors for pathological vaginal discharge. This study aims to analyse the relationship between knowledge, attitude, personal hygiene behaviour, stress, and physical activity with the occurrence of pathological vaginal discharge among nursing students at Sriwijaya University. An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted, involving a total of 115 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data analysis was performed in several stages, including univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square), and multivariate (multiple logistic regression) analyses. The bivariate analysis indicated a significant relationship between knowledge (p-value = 0.035, PR = 1,609, CI= 1,096–2,362) and behaviour (p-value = 0.035, PR = 1,631, CI = 1,114–2,388) with the occurrence of pathological vaginal discharge. The multivariate analysis revealed that behaviour (p-value = 0.045) was the most dominant variable associated with the occurrence of pathological vaginal discharge among students (PR = 2.686, CI = 1.021–7.070). The findings of this study indicate that personal hygiene behaviour is the most dominant factor influencing the occurrence of pathological vaginal discharge among female students in the Nursing Study Programme at Sriwijaya University. Specifically, the habit of using soap and stored water for cleaning the intimate area, as well as wearing tight underwear, can increase the risk of infection.
