HUBUNGAN ASUPAN KARBOHIDRAT DAN SERAT DENGAN KADAR HBA1C PADA PENYANDANG DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a condition associated with insulin resistance and pancreatic β-cell dysfunction. Dietary regulation is one of the efforts to manage diabetes mellitus. Poor blood glucose control is caused by high carbohydrate intake and insufficient fiber consumption. HbA1c levels serve as an indicator of better blood sugar control. This study aims to determine the relationship between carbohydrate and fiber intake with HbA1c levels in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study is a Descriptive Analytical study with a cross-sectional design selected by Purposive Sampling to obtain 40 respondents. The study took place in December 2024 at the outpatient installation of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang. Data on carbohydrate and fiber intake for the last three months were collected using the SQ-FFQ questionnaire, while HbA1c levels were obtained from medical records. Statistical analysis was performed using the Mann Whitney and Fisher exact tests. The results showed a significant difference in carbohydrate intake between the two intake categories (p = 0.001) and a significant relationship between fiber intake and HbA1c levels (p = 0.005). Further researchers are expected to examine other variables that are not yet included in this study so that the results obtained can provide a comprehensive description.
