PENGARUH EDUKASI GIZI TENTANG BODY IMAGE DAN PERILAKU MAKAN MELALUI PERMAINAN ULAR TANGGA GIZI (UTAGI) PADA ATLET HANDBALL KOTA PALEMBANG
Sports achievements reflect national progress. To continue excelling, athlete performance is crucial. However, athlete performance in Indonesia remains suboptimal. Over the past decade, the handball sport has not won any international competitions, such as the Asian Games and SEA Games. Nutritional factors, such as body image and eating behavior, play a role in enhancing athlete performance. This study aims to determine the effect of nutrition education on body image and eating behavior through the Snakes and Ladders Nutrition Game (UTAGI) on the knowledge and attitudes of handball athletes in Palembang City. This quantitative study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test with a control group design. The study sample consisted of 58 athletes, divided into 29 in the experimental group and 29 in the control group, selected using total sampling. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U Test (α=0,05). The results showed a significant difference in knowledge and attitudes before and after the intervention, as evidenced by the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test (p=0,000). The Mann Whitney test also showed a significant effect (p=0,000), indicating that nutrition education using UTAGI influenced athletes' knowledge and attitudes. In conclusion, nutrition education on body image and eating behavior through UTAGI affects the knowledge and attitudes of handball athletes in Palembang City. Researchers recommend further researchers to explore the effectiveness of the Snake and Ladder Game (UTAGI) media by adding other variables such as behavior change.
