Pests are organisms that cause damage to plants, with disturbances that have an impact such as attacks on plants. The grasshopper is one of the factors inhibiting crop production, because it can attack plants. Control with chemical pesticides can be detrimental to health and the surrounding environment, an alternative is needed. Tembesu contains polar compounds that can act as insecticides. The study aims to determine the effect of tembesu fruit-based axtract (Fagraea fragrans Roxb.)in dealing with locust pests and to determine the optimal concentration of tembesu fruit extract (Fagraea fragrans Roxb.) in dealing with locust pests. The extraction method uses ethanol solvent. The research was conducted from October 2023 to December 2023, at the Genetic and Biotechnology Laboratory, Animal Biosystematics Laboratory, Departement of Biology, using RAL (Rancangan Acak Lengkap). The test groups consisted of negative control (0%), positive control (1%), 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Observations were made for 1 hour and 24 hours, to determine the death of grasshoppers and were repeated 4 times. Data were analyzed using One Way Anova followed by Duncan’s test. Probit analysis was used to find LC50. The result showed that the administration of tembesu fruit extract (Fagraea fragrans Roxb.) has the ability as a bioinsecticide against locust mortality (Locusta migratoria manilensis Meyen). The highest extract activity of tembesu fruit was able to kill locusts as much as 88% in the treatment of P4 20% concentration, and the results of LC50 at 24 hours of observation around 5,84% were able to reach 50% mortality in the treatment of P2 which is 63% mortality. There has been a change in the body structure of locusts with a higher concentration level, namely at a concentration of 20%, at 24 hours observation time and there are several compounds contained in tembesu fruit extract including terpenoids, flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, tannis, and steroids.
