PD., M.T., IPP. xxvii + 42 Pages, 5 Tables, 21 Figures, 7 Attachments In order to increase the electrification ratio in Indonesia, the use of new and renewable energy is a prospective solution. Therefore, the development of water energy conversion technology into electrical energy needs special attention. Based on the research results, the Turgo turbine is the right choice for pico-scale water energy conversion (< 5 kW) because it has a simple design, easy construction, and relatively low investment costs. Therefore, the pico-scale Turgo turbine is recommended to support electrification in remote areas in Indonesia. Low cost Turgo turbines for low head applications are designed and researched to evaluate the influence of various geometric parameters that play a role in the design, which ultimately affect turbine efficiency. The Turgo turbine geometry is relatively complex, so it is recommended to use three-dimensional (3D) printing technology for the runner manufacturing process. 3D printers were chosen because they are capable of printing complex geometries with a high level of precision. In addition, technological developments have produced 3D printers that are more affordable, easy to use, and still precise. In the manufacturing process, plastic-based materials such as PolyLactic Acid (PLA), Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) can be a solution for making blades. The use of plastic-based materials in three-dimensional printing technology (3D printer) is the right choice. Therefore, this research aims to determine the results of printing pico-scale turgo turbine blades using three-dimensional printer technology. Test results for printing Turgo turbine blades using three-dimensional printer technology show that Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) has the smallest failure percentage, namely 2.46%, compared to PolyLactic Acid (PLA) and Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG). ABS filaments demonstrate the best performance for Turgo turbine blade applications, with high efficiency and optimal mechanical strength.
