PREPARASI MEMBRANE ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY (MEA) DENGAN ANODA Pt/C DAN KATODA Cu2O-TiO2/C BINCHOTAN SEBAGAI TINTA KATALIS DAN APLIKASINYA PADA DIRECT METHANOL FUEL CELL (DMFC)
This research focuses on the fabrication and characterization of Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA), with the aim of increasing the efficiency of DMFC through the use of Cu2O-TiO2/C catalyst. The methodology encompasses the fabrication of GDL and catalyst layers, with the catalyst layers prepared at 70:30 and 30:70 ratios. Characterization involves microstructure analysis via microscopy, hydrophobicity testing, FTIR, PSA, Zeta Potential, CV, SEM, XRD, and MEA performance testing in DMFC. Microscopic analysis reveals the porous structure of binchotan carbon and fissures in vulcan carbon. Hydrophobicity tests indicate hydrophilic properties with contact angles of 45° and 43.84°. Electrode characterization using CV demonstrates the highest Electrochemical Surface Area (ECSA) value of 7.344437 cm²/g for vulcan carbon at a 30:70 ratio. MEA performance testing with varying methanol concentrations (5-20%) and current loads (100-600 mA) suggests that the Cu₂O-TiO₂/C vulcan 30:70 MEA exhibits the best resistance to 5% methanol, with a maximum voltage of 3.7 mV and a peak power density of 1.860 mW at 5% methanol concentrations.
