SINTESIS DAN KARAKTERISASI LAPISAN TIPIS DLC/Ti/Cu PADA PERMUKAAN STAINLESS STEEL 316 MENGGUNAKAN METODE PECVD DAN PVD SEBAGAI BAHAN BIOMATERIAL IMPLAN TULANG
This research uses Stainless Steel 316 as a substrate for making bone implant materials. The surface of SS316 was modified by depositing Diamond Like-Carbon (DLC), Ti and Cu using PECVD and PVD methods to improve its biocompatibility properties. Based on the test results and characterization of Vickers Hardness, Water Contact Angle (WCA), XRD, SEM-EDX and antibacterial tests using Staphylococcus aureus bacteria have been successfully carried out. The Vickers hardness test obtained optimum conditions in the DLC/Ti/Cu layer variation of 212.35 VHN. The WCA test on the DLC/Ti/Cu specimen showed a contact angle value of 145.73° with a surface energy of 1.83 dyne/cm. The results of XRD and SEM-EDX tests showed that the deposition of DLC, Ti and Cu layers on the stainless steel surface had been successfully carried out, which was indicated by the appearance of typical peaks on the diffractogram and the thickness of each variation of the DLC/Cu, Ti/Cu and DLC/Ti/Cu layers respectively of 0.74 µm; 1.11 µm; 1.51 µm and the distribution of elements on EDX. Furthermore, the antibacterial test on the Ti/Cu layer did not form an inhibition zone while on the variation of the DLC/Ti/Cu layer a symmetrical inhibition zone of 15.2 mm was formed.
