Sumatra Island and Java Island also have the same pattern of leading industries as the Indonesian national economy, where the food and beverage industry subsector on Sumatra Island and Java Island has a large contribution to the GDP of the food and beverage industry. The purpose of this research is to review the forward and backward linkages of the food and beverage industry in Sumatra and Java Islands and the contribution of the food and beverage industry in the creation of added value and employment. The research method used is input-output analysis with 2021 IO table data for each province on the island of Sumatra and Java. The results showed that the upstream and downstream sectors related to the food and beverage industry in Sumatra Island and Java Island were overall the same. However, the level of linkage in Sumatra Island is greater due to the higher availability of intermediate inputs in Sumatra Island. labor absorption in the food and beverage industry sector in Java Island is quite high compared to Sumatra Island followed by the distribution of gross value added in Java Island more evenly compared to Sumatra Island.
