The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported that in 2023, Indonesia ranked fourth globally with 25.53 million cases of child marriage. Ogan Komering Regency, in the Province of South Sumatra, experienced a rise in child marriage practices, with 35 additional cases from 2019 to 2022. This study aims to examine the social and psychological impacts of child marriage. A qualitative approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with 42 informants in Pangkalan Lampam Subdisctrict, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Key informants consisted of 12 married adolescent girls aged 14-17, and 12 parents of these adolescents, while expert informants included the head of the Religious Affairs Office (KUA), the village head, and the village midwife. To ensure data validity, source triangulation and data triangulation were applied. Thematic analysis techniques were used in the data analysis process. The results revealed that the social impacts of early marriage include an increase in divorce rates due to economic issues and social withdrawal from the community. On the psychological side, adolescents who marry at an early age experience changes in attitude, such as fear regarding the challenges they will face after starting a family. Therefore, it is essential to provide education for adolescents to delay marriage in order to avoid the negative consequences of child marriage.
