Synbiotics play an important role in improving gastrointestinal health and nutrient absorption, which in turn can affect the hematological status of broiler chickens. Pineapple peel contains FOS (Fructo-oligosaccharide) which acts as a natural prebiotic because it can be utilized by LAB (Lactic Acid Bacteria) for its growth. Thepurpose of this study was to assess how the hematological condition of broiler chickens was affected by tha addition of synbiotic derived from fermented pineapple peel and Indigofera zollingeriana leaves. It is assumed that suplementation of synbiotic from fermented pineapple peel and Indigofera zollingeriana up to 2% dose can improve the normal hematological status in broiler chickens. The materials used in this study included synbiotics produced from fermentation of pineapple peel and Indigofera zollingeriana leaves, and commercial basal ration prepared for broiler chickens. This research was conducted at the Poultry Experimental Cage, Department of Animal Husbandry Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and blood analysis was analyzed at the Sriwijaya University Clinic from October to November 2024. A completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications was applied to this experiment. The treatments were basal ration without synbiotic addition as control (P0), basal ration with 0.5% synbiotic added (P1), basal ration with 1% synbiotic added (P2), basal ration with 1.5% synbiotic added (P3), and basal ration with 2% synbiotic added (P4). The observed parameter were hematological status (values of erythrocytes, leukocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets) in broiler blood. Data obtained from hematology measurements were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed no significant effect between treatments on each parameter. Erythrocyte values in this study ranged from 2.12 - 2.29 ×106/μL. Leukocyte values found in this study ranged from 219.95 - 225.00 ×103/μL. The increase in mean hemoglobin and hematocrit values in this study was in line with the increase in erythrocyte values, which ranged from 9.40 - 9.97 g/dL for hemoglobin and 28.57 - 30.27% for hematocrit. The average erythrocyte value obtained in this study ranged from 19.50 - 37.87 ×103/μL. Based on the result it can be concluded that the supplementation of synbiotic from fermented pineapple peel and Indigofera zollingeriana leaves up to 2% dose in the ration maintain normal hematologic status in broiler chickens.
