ANALISIS POLA CURAH HUJAN DI PAPUA DENGAN METODE EMPIRICAL ORTHOGONAL FUNCTION (EOF) MENGGUNAKAN GOOGLE COLAB
Indonesia, as a tropical maritime country, has two main seasons, namely dry and rainy. Rainfall intensity in Indonesia is influenced by many factors, such as geographical location, shape of the earth's surface, wind direction, and climate phenomena such as ENSO and IOD. This study analyzes rainfall patterns in Papua for 35 years, from 1981 to 2015 using the Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) method assisted by Machine Learning. The EOF method produces three main modes, with EOF1 showing positive rainfall anomalies, while EOF2 and EOF3 show a combination of positive and negative anomalies. These modes explain 62.53%, 11.39%, and 7.01% of the total rainfall variation. Composite analysis shows that the interaction of IOD and ENSO greatly affects rainfall in Papua, where positive IOD and El Niño tend to cause drought, while negative IOD and La Niña tend to cause increased rainfall.
