KOMODIFIKASI WARTAWAN LOKAL DALAM HUBUNGAN KERJA SAMA MEDIA DENGAN PEMERINTAH DI KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR
Media cooperation with the government refers to a reciprocal relationship in which the media provide publication space for government agendas, while the government offers financial support or access to information for the media. The study "Commodification of Local Journalists in the Cooperation Between Media and Government in Ogan Ilir Regency" aims to explore how local journalists experience commodification within the context of media cooperation with the local government. This research employs a critical paradigm with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews with five local journalists and the Head of the Communication, Information, and Statistics Department of Diskominfo Ogan Ilir, as well as through observations and document studies related to the commodification of local journalists in the cooperation between media and the government. The findings indicate that journalists in Ogan Ilir Regency undergo commodification, as reflected in news coverage about the Ogan Ilir government and other agreements within the cooperation that influence the journalistic process. Situated within the structure of the Political Economy of Media, which operates under vested interests, this cooperation agreement functions as a Political Branding strategy that builds the image of the local government and influences the independence and objectivity of news coverage, posing challenges to journalistic professionalism. Keywords: Commodification, Local Journalist, Political Branding, Political Economy of Media.
