PERTUMBUHAN BIBIT PEPAYA CALIFORNIA (Carica papaya L.) PADA BERBAGAI KOMPOSISI MEDIA TANAM CAMPURAN TANAH DAN KOMPOS KOTORAN SAPI
Processing cow manure which has a high N, P and K content as compost can supply the nutrients the soil needs and improve the soil structure for the better. This research aims to determine the composition of a planting medium mixed with soil and cow dung compost that is suitable for supporting the growth of California papaya (Carica papaya L.). This research was carried out in Tanjung Pering, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra at the coordinates 3°14'25.4"S 104°38'11.9"E. The research implementation period starts from August to October 2023. This research was carried out using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) which consisted of 1 factor, namely 5 treatments and 3 replications, then each treatment contained 3 plants, so that there were a total of 45 plants. P0 = Control, P1 = Soil:Cow manure compost 1:1, P2 = Soil:Cow manure compost 1:2, P3 = Soil:Cow manure compost 1:3, P4 = Soil:Cow manure compost 1:4. The parameters observed were plant height, leaf greenness, number of leaves, leaf area, stem diameter, root length, root dry weight, root wet weight, stem dry weight, stem wet weight, leaf wet weight, leaf dry weight. The research results showed that the composition of soil and cow manure compost in a ratio of 1:4 was the best composition to increase the growth of California papaya seedlings.
