DAMPAK EKONOMI DAN SOSIAL PENETAPAN BIAYA TENAGA KERJA ASING DI PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
This study examines the economic and social impacts of imposing fees on foreign workers (TKA) in South Sumatra Province. Using a qualitative approach, it analyzes the contribution of TKA levies to Regional Original Revenue (PAD) and their effects on local workers and society. The findings show that TKA levy contributions to PAD are minimal and fluctuating. In 2021, TKA levies accounted for 0.024% of PAD, while in 2022, revenue was nil due to adjustments in the Job Creation Law. In 2023, levy revenue resumed but contributed only 0.017% of PAD. Economically, TKA levies serve as a source of regional income, yet their effectiveness in supporting economic growth remains limited. Socially, the presence of TKA facilitates skill transfers but also raises concerns about reduced job opportunities for local workers. This study recommends a more balanced foreign labor policy, including stronger regulations and training programs to enhance the competitiveness of the local workforce.
