Housing is one of the most important determinants of health. The challenge of providing adequate housing is still a significant issue in Indonesia due to limited land, so a policy was made to build flats, but most of them do not meet health standards, such as in the UNSRI Indralaya Student Flats (Rusunawa). Previous research shows that the quality of housing components, sanitation facilities and occupant behavior have a significant impact on the health of its residents. This study aims to analyze the condition of environmental sanitation in UNSRI Indralaya student flats with focus in building components and sanitation facilities. This research used descriptive qualitative design utilizing in-depth interviews. Informants were selected using Purposive Sampling method. A total of 14 informants were chosen, consisting of residents, administrators, and clinic staff. The results of the study based on in-depth interviews and observation checklist showed that the building components and sanitation facilities of student flats UNSRI generally did not meet the health standards. Several issues include leakage of terrace ceilings, wall damage, hard-to-clean floors, and inadequate air circulation from permanent ventilation. Several water sources met the health standards, while others did not. Most latrines were up to standard in terms of number and function. Drains were often clogged and flowed into open sewers, and waste management was irregular with no segregation and no fixed collecting schedule. The conclusion showed that most building components, such as ceilings, walls, floors, ventilation did not meet the health standards, while windows and lighting did. Furthermore, sanitation facilities such as clean water, waste water treatment facilities, and waste bins still did not meet health standards, except for latrines.
