PERTUMBUHAN DAN PRODUKSI BAYAM HIJAU (Amaranthus hybridus L.) YANG DIBERI KOMPOS SEKAM PADI DAN PUPUK NPK PADA TANAH RAWA LEBAK
Green spinach (Amaranthus hybridus L.) was one of the most important leafy vegetables in Asia and Africa, containing a good source of calcium, iron, vitamin A, and vitamin C. The aim of this research was to provide information on the effect of rice husk compost and NPK fertilizer application that could enhance the growth and yield of green spinach (Amaranthus hybridus L.) in peat swamp soil. This study also aimed to provide information on the feasibility of green spinach production using rice husk compost and NPK. The research was conducted from September 2023 to January 2024 at Politeknik street Bukit Lama urban village, Palembang, South Sumatra, with coordinates 3°00'15.4"S 104°43'44.5"E, and the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Cultivation, and soil analysis were performed at the Chemistry, Biology, and Soil Fertility Laboratory, Department of Soil, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The design used in this research was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with rice husk compost and NPK fertilizer as treatments, resulting in 8 treatments: control, recommended NPK, 5 tons ha-1 rice husk compost, 10 tons ha-1 rice husk compost, 20 tons ha-1 rice husk compost, 5 tons ha-1 rice husk compost + recommended NPK, 10 tons ha-1 rice husk compost + recommended NPK, and 20 tons ha-1 rice husk compost + recommended NPK. Each treatment was repeated 4 times, yielding 32 treatment units, with 1 plant per unit, totaling 32 plants. The variables observed were soil pH value, plant height, leaf number, leaf area, root length, leaf greenness level, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight, root fresh weight, root dry weight, and shoot-root ratio. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for Randomized Block Design (RBD). If the calculated F is greater than the F table at the 5% test level, it means that the treatment has a significant effect, so it is continued with the BNT 0.05 test to determine the level of treatment that causes a significant difference in response. The results indicated that the treatment of rice husk compost + 100% recommended NPK (300 kg ha-1) had a significant effect on almost all variables. The treatment of 20 tons ha-1 rice husk compost + recommended NPK showed better results compared to other treatments, but the treatment of 10 tons ha-1 rice husk compost + 100% recommended NPK also provided good growth and yield of green spinach with lower production costs.
