OPTIMALISASI PRODUKSI BIOETANOL BERBAHAN BAKU LIMBAH KELAPA SAWIT MELALUI DELIGNIFIKASI OZONOLISIS, HIDROLISIS ENZIMATIK DAN FERMENTASI
Bioethanol is a biofuel produced by using biomass which can be blended with gasoline. The biomass used can be agricultural waste such as oil palm empty fruit bunches and palm fruit fiber. Cellulose contained in palm oil waste can be converted into glucose through hydrolysis process and fermented into bioethanol. Lignin contained in palm oil waste can inhibit the work of catalysts in the hydrolysis process must be degraded or known as the delignification process. In this research, the delignification process is carried out using ozonolysis method involving ozone (O3). In this process, the content of lignin (Kappa method), cellulose (α-cellulose method), hemicellulose (γ-cellulose), SEM, FTIR and XRD were analyzed. The delignification Kinetics analyzed using First order Method. The samples were then hydrolyzed using cellulase enzyme (Novozyme) with a ratio of endoglucanase to exoglucanase of 1:15 by varying the substrate concentration and hydrolysis time. The concentration of glucose produced was analyzed using spectrophotometry and the kinetics of the hydrolysis reaction was studied using Michaelis-Menten Method. Furthermore, glucose was fermented into bioethanol involving Saccharomyces cerevisiae by varying substrate concentration and fermentation time. The fermentation process aimed to convert glucose into bioethanol. The final products were analyzed by using Gas Chromatography and the kinetics of fermentation reaction were analyzed using Monod Method.
