Non-renewable energy sources are finite and pose various negative impacts. On the other hand, the demand for electricity continues to rise. Therefore, renewable energy, such as solar energy, serves as a primary alternative. One major issue in utilizing solar panels is the overload condition, which affects efficiency. This study aims to compare the performance of polycrystalline solar panels with and without water cooling to determine the effect of temperature on electrical output. The research was conducted in the Electrical Machines Laboratory at Universitas Sriwijaya, utilizing two 50 Wp polycrystalline solar panels, one of which was equipped with a water cooling system. Data collection included measurements of voltage, current, and light intensity over three days, with a gradual increase in load until reaching the overload condition. Data were analyzed using a descriptive quantitative method, supported by theories on the influence of temperature and light intensity on solar panels. The results showed that the highest voltage and current values were achieved by the solar panel with a cooling system, producing a voltage of 21.2 volts under no-load conditions with a light intensity of 127,100 lux. Conversely, the lowest voltage and current values were observed in the solar panel without a cooling system, with a light intensity of 6,293 lux, resulting in a voltage of 7.8 volts. This study recommends further research involving variations in cooling systems and types of solar panels to enhance efficiency.
