Stunting is a condition of growth failure in toddlers due to chronic malnutrition that leads to children being shorter than their age. Malnutrition occurs since the baby is in the womb and in the early period after the baby is born, however, the stunting condition only appears after the baby is 2 years old.According to SSGI (Indonesia Nutrition Status Survey) data in 2021, it is known that in Jambi province the highest prevalence of stunting is in Muaro Jambi regency (27.2%) and the lowest in Jambi City, with 25.6% for East Tanjung Jabung Regency, which is higher than the prevalence of Jambi Province (22.4%). This research is quantitative research with cross sectional. Location of the research was conducted in Geragai District. The research was conducted in December 2022 with a population of 574 mothers who have children aged 0-23 months and samples of 132.The data were collected using a questionnaire and were analyzed univariate, bivariate and multivariate using the chi-square test. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded there was a relation between maternal characteristics (education p-value 0.002, occupation p-value 0.015, family income p-value 0.009), maternal knowledge p-value 0.000, maternal behavior p-value 0.002, and the role of posyandu cadres p-value 0.000 on stunting prevention behavior by mothers in East Tanjung Jabung Regency in 2022.Most influential variables in preventing stunting in mothers with two-year-old infants in East Tanjung Jabung Regency are knowledge and the role of posyandu cadres. It is advised for health workers and related stakeholders are able to increase the knowledge and role of posyandu cadres through advocacy and coordination in order to ensure the activities of posyandu cadres are in accordance with their duties and functions and also to ensure the allocation of village budgets for the benefit of posyandu cadres in the prevention and handling of stunting.
