PERKEMBANGAN OVARI IKAN PUTAK (Notopterus notopterus) YANG DIINJEKSI HUMAN CHORIONIC GONADOTROPIN
The bronze featherback (Notopterus notopterus) is a wild species that has not been domesticated. Wild species reared in aquaculture tanks tend to experience disturbances in their reproductive systems. The purpose of this study was to determine changes in the development of N. notopterus ovaries after being injected with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This study was a laboratory experiment. The experiment used a completely randomized design with four treatments of hCG dosage (0, 150, 200, and 250 IU kg-1 fish), each treatment repeated three times. Administration of hCG was through intramuscular injection. Each fish was injected only once. On the 7th and 14th days after injection, blood was collected from N. notopterus, and then the fish were dissected for liver and ovary collection. The results showed that the administration of hCG stimulated the development of N. notopterus ovaries. The stage of ovarian maturity in N. notopterus increased. The best dose in this study was 250 IU kg-1 fish reached stage IV maturing II. This is the first study to induce ovarian maturation in N. notopterus using hCG. The results of this study provide valuable information for future studies on the reproductive physiology of N. notopterus.
